Summer Reading Participation Guidelines:

  • To participate, students choose and read a book from either the Departmental Recommendations or Abraham Lincoln Book Award lists over summer break to be eligible for raffle prizes and a social event to take place in the fall of 2009.
  • Students must complete the "Summer Reading Reflection Form" and return the reflection to their English teacher on Thursday, 8/27, in order to attend the social event and enter in the prize raffle.
  • Students may also earn additional raffle tickets for reading self-selected books and completing a reflection form for each (up to 3 books).
How can parents encourage their students to read this summer?
  • Read one or more of the Summer Reading books -they make great conversation starters!
  • Keep reading material around the house - books, magazines, etc.
  • As your student to read to younger siblings and family members.
  • Take your student to the local library or bookstore.
